Background of X-Malaria

X-Malaria has been successfully tested in the field in conjunction with African traditional and doctors. Field tests using X-Malaria were first conducted in January 2000. Traditional healers in Moçambique were given X-Malaria to dispense to their patients. Their feedback was extremely positive: for example, HIV-positive and AIDS patients recovered from malaria, using X-Malaria. Of importance is the fact that the immune system of these patients was depleted and therefore the recovery from a malaria attack less likely. T/Dr Joao Ngome, president of the traditional healers association in Moçambique has approved this formula. Our field experience has shown promising results.

During 2000, an agreement was reached with Ruhanyu health care, a subsidiary of Nehawu, to run clinical trials on X-Malaria. Since then, Zypharm (PTY) has taken over by providing their expertise to the project.

History

The African medicinal plants, with which X-Malaria is made, have given positive in-vitro and in-vivo results for the control of Plasmodium Falciparum. African herbalists have known of the medicinal properties of some of these plants for the treatment of malaria for centuries. Some of this knowledge has been kept secret until recently.

Research

In 1996, specimens and extracts of an African medicinal plant were given to the to the University of Cape Town for evaluation and tests. The department of Pharmacology of the University of Cape Town screened the above extracts against the chloroquine sensitive strain of Plasmodium Falciparum (malaria parasites). The tests were successful (under laboratory conditions) and are proof that the extracts of the African medicinal plant have positive properties for Plasmodium Falciparum and some resistant strains of malaria.

Clinical trials on the effectiveness of Artemisia afra for malaria have been conducted with positive results. Artemisia afra is used by conventional doctors, homeopaths, Chinese and African traditional doctors for malaria.
