With
phenomenal growth, the
Pelargonium sidoides
has
gone from being an obscure African herbal remedy to becoming one of Germany's
top new medicines as well as gaining popularity in England and the USA.
In the past two years sales in Germany have jumped over 700%, growing
faster than any other medicine. It's success is attributed to impressive
clinical results, high consumer satisfaction and a fascinating history.
A must in every household, Cold
& Flu + is a tincture of the roots of the
Pelargonium sidoides
and African
Ginger.
These African plants have been used in African traditional medicine since
early times. Both plant species have an immense following by traditionalists,
naturalists and conventional practitioners, of whom, homeopaths seem to
be the most ardent followers.
For hundreds of years the Zulu, Basuto, Xhosa and Mfengi
cultures have used Pelargonium
sidoides as
a curative for coughs, upper respiratory tract irritations and gastrointestinal
concerns. Today, with the advantages of modern science and clinical
research, we are able to better understand what makes this traditional
remedy work so effectively.
Added
benefits:
1) Enhances the body’s functioning and protects it against
diseases
2) Improves symptoms associated with coughs, fevers, fatigue and weakness
3) Can be used externally on sores, cuts, bites and infections
4) Antibacterial characteristics
5) Is rich in phytochemicals, vitamins, minerals and amino acids
6) Is a natural anti-inflammatory remedy
The traditional use of Pelargonium sidoides
for coughs and chest troubles may be explained by the presence of essential
oils. It has not yet been established which ingredients contribute to
its antibacterial properties. Extracts of Pelargonium
sidoides have clear antibacterial characteristics
against Streptococci, Staphylococci and Bacillus cereus. Many studies
are ongoing as to establish the antibacterial characteristics of Pelargonium
sidoides and its beneficial healing properties.
Works Differently:
While most other cough, cold and sinus medications simply mask outward
symptoms; the mechanisms and actions of Pelargonium
sidoides actually support faster recovery.
Shortens Duration and Reduces Severity:
Clinical trials show that Pelargonium
sidoides shortens the duration and reduces the severity
of upper respiratory irritations.
African Ginger (Siphonochilus aethiopicus
elite chemotype) is regarded as one of Africa’s
best natural anti-inflammatory remedies, and it has many other uses. The
roots contain a high percentage of a characteristic sesquiterpenoid,
which is a key phytochemical active. Extracts
have been demonstrated to be anti-inflammatory (prostaglandin-synthetase
inhibition), bronchodilatory, smooth muscle relaxant, mildly sedative,
and anti-candidal. The presence of antiseptic monoterpenoids
contributes to the bioactivity.
